    Barry A. Freeman, Ph.D.

    Dr. Barry A. Freeman is Senior Director of Education and Audiology for Starkey, Laboratories, Inc. Prior to joining Starkey, he was Chair and Professor in the Audiology Department in the Health Professions Division at Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He continues to maintain an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Audiology at NSU.

    Freeman earned his bachelor's degree in business and economics from Boston University, a master's degree in audiology, and his Ph.D. in Auditory Science from Michigan State University. He has taught audiology on the faculties of Syracuse University and Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining NSU, Freeman was in private practice for twenty years at the Center for Audiology in Clarksville, Tennessee.

    Freeman was president of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) in 1996-97 and served on the Academy's Board of Directors for six years. He continues to serve on professional committees and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education. He received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the AAA in 2006.

    Kadyn Williams, Au.D.

    Dr. Kadyn Williams was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and a Master of Education degree in Audiology from the University of Georgia. She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with Georgia Head and Neck Surgery and Cobb ENT in 1977, and continued there for the next seven years. Williams completed her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida in December 2000.

    Williams joined forces with Dr. Helana Solodar in 1981 to form Occupational Noise Consultants (ONC), Inc., the first female-owned hearing conservation practice in Georgia. In 1983, they sold ONC, Inc. and founded ACA, the first private audiology and speech pathology practice in Georgia.

    Williams is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and serves as chair of the coding and reimbursement committee. She received a 2007 Presidential Award from the AAA. She is also a member of the Audiology Resource Association (ARA), the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists (ADA) and the Georgia Academy of Audiology (GAA). Williams was editor at Feedback, the professional journal of the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists, for four years and is an adjunct faculty member for a distance learning Au.D. program at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In 2007, Williams was appointed to serve as a member of the Georgia Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers.

    Helena Solodar, Au.D.

    Dr. Helena Solodar was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, her master's degrees in both Audiology and Speech Pathology from the University of South Carolina and her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida. Solodar completed her Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with ear, nose, and throat physicians, Drs. Haile and Warder in Columbia, where she founded Professional Hearing Aid Associates.

    In 1981, Solodar formed Occupational Noise Consultants (ONC), Inc., the first female-owned hearing conservation practice in Georgia, with Dr. Kadyn Williams. In 1983, they sold ONC, Inc., and founded Audiological Consultants of Atlanta (ACA), the first private audiology and speech pathology practice in Georgia, which currently operates six office locations and employs ten licensed audiologists.

    Solodar is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and former member of the board of directors. She is also a member of the Audiology Resource Association (ARA), which named her Audiologist of the Year in 1995, the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), and the Georgia Academy of Audiology (GAA). Solodar was appointed by the governor of Georgia to serve on the State Board of Examiners for Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers, which she served on for nine years. Solodar's other service includes the Songbird Medical Advisory Board, the editorial board for a national publication, the board of trustees of the GAA and the Georgia Hearing Commission for Hearing Impaired and Deaf Persons. She was also the 20th anniversary task force chair for AAA's 2008 AudiologyNOW! convention, where she received two prestigious awards — the State Leaders Network Advocate of the Year Award and the Presidential Award. She was honored at the Georgia State Capitol by the House of Representatives by receiving House Resolution 1726 presented in her name for outstanding service and achievement in 2009.

    Sherri L. Smith, Ph.D.

    Dr. Sherri Smith obtained her Au.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Florida. She works as a research audiologist at the VA in Mountain Home, Tennessee. Her research interests deal with subspecialties of audiologic rehabilitation including self-efficacy, dual-sensory impairment, speech perception, and more recently, cognitive hearing science. She has been funded by the VA Rehabilitation Research and Development Service (RR&D) Career Development Award Program since January 2005 and serves as a co-investigator on three RR&D Merit Review projects.

    In addition to research, Dr. Smith is an assistant professor in the joint VA/East Tennessee State University, Doctor of Audiology program.

    Ian M. Windmill, Ph.D.

    Dr. Ian Windmill is Professor and Director of the Division of Communication Science in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he is responsible for directing the clinical, educational and research programs in audiology and speech-language pathology. He spent 25 years at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, the last ten as director of the academic and clinical programs of the division of audiology. He was a partner in University Surgical Associates, a 50-doctor multi-specialty surgical practice, where he served as a member of the executive committee and board of directors and as managing partner of University Audiology Associates, a private audiologic practice associated with University Surgical Associates.

    Dr. Windmill received his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. in Audiology from Florida State University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and has served on the Board of Directors of the AAA as well as holding key committee chair positions. He currently chairs the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education. He has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology and the Ear, Nose and Throat Journal. His teaching responsibilities include medical students, residents in otolaryngology and Doctor of Audiology students, primarily focusing on his two interest areas — the diagnosis of hearing and balance disorders and the education of audiologists.

    Earl R. Harford, Ph.D.

    Dr. Harford spent his youth in the foothills of the Catskills in New York. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in speech and hearing at Florida State University in 1951, an M.S. in audiology at Vanderbilt in 1954, and a Ph.D. in audiology at Northwestern University in 1958. Following his bachelor's degree, he launched his 49-year professional career in audiology as a speech and hearing consultant with the Tennessee State Department of Public Health, and after his master's, he founded the audiology clinic at St. Barnabas Medical Center in northern New Jersey. Most of his long career, however, was spent as Professor of Audiology/Otolaryngology and Director of Hearing Clinics at McGill University (Montreal), Northwestern University, Vanderbilt and the University of Minnesota. For six years he operated an independent private audiology practice in the Minneapolis area, then spent the last eight years of his active career as Director of the Graduate Internship Program at Starkey Laboratories, Inc.

    Harford authored more than 100 articles in clinical and research literature, authored two dozen book chapters, monographs and supplements, edited two books, co-authored a college textbook, and sat on numerous committees, editorial boards and boards of directors. Throughout his career, Dr. Harford presented papers and workshops worldwide. His main area of interest is clinical audiology and amplification for the hearing impaired. He and his wife, Jennifer Fox, reside in the Tucson area.

    Peter J. Marincovich, Ph.D.

    Dr. Peter Marincovich earned his graduate degree in communicative disorders from Louisiana State University and his Ph.D., in Audiology from the University of Memphis. A Santa Rosa native, Dr. Marincovich has practiced in his hometown since 1984. He works with patients of all ages and levels of hearing loss. He is also a frequent presenter at seminars and academic conferences. He holds specialized credentials in teaching the handicapped and conducts courses at Santa Rosa Junior College.

    Dr. Emiko LeJeune is the owner of the Center for Audiology in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Truman State (Northeast Missouri State) University and her Master of Education degree in Audiology from Vanderbilt University. LeJeune completed her Doctor of Audiology degree at Central Michigan University.

    LeJeune served as an audiologist in the U.S. Army from 1991 to 1997. Her assignments included The Army Audiology and Speech Center at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Hearing Conservation Officer for the Military District of Washington, and Chief of Audiology and Hearing Conservation at Ft. Campbell Kentucky. Following her military service she joined the Center for Audiology in Clarksville where she provides audiologic services to children and adults.
